For school leavers & young people

First Pivot. A strong start, on your terms.

Career guidance for HSC and post-HSC students — one-to-one or in a small group. Less pressure to have it all figured out. More clarity about what comes next.

A next step that feels like you

You’re starting out. You don’t have to start alone.

Choosing what to do after school can feel overwhelming. First Pivot gives young people an independent, supportive space to explore their strengths, understand their options and make an informed choice.

  • HSC and post-HSC students weighing up their next move
  • Young people exploring study, training or work
  • Parents looking for independent guidance for their child

Two ways to work together

Choose the fit that suits you.

Option 1 · One-to-one

Private 1:1 coaching

Dedicated guidance for one student — a private space to work through strengths, options and next steps at your own pace.

  • Year 11–12 and university students
  • Individual attention, tailored to your situation
  • Parents welcome in the first conversation
  • Delivered virtually, from anywhere

Option 2 · Small group

First Pivot group program

A structured group coaching program for Year 11–12 and university students, working through the DECIDE framework together.

  • Small, facilitated group sessions
  • Discover, Explore, Challenge, Integrate, Decide, Execute
  • A participant workbook to keep and use
  • Share the journey with other students
  • Delivered virtually, from anywhere

Your first pivot.
Not your last.

You’re not choosing a forever career this year.
Nobody is.

Careers stopped going in straight lines a while ago.

What you need isn’t the perfect answer. It’s a process you can trust, this year and every pivot after.

What we work on together

From “I don’t know” to “I have a plan”.

The DECIDE framework — six stages drawn from decision science, positive psychology and career development theory. A structured way to work through a big choice, rather than guessing your way through it.

D

Discover

Understand your strengths, values and interests, and get an honest picture of what has been shaping your choices so far.

E

Explore

Open up the full range of options — university, TAFE, apprenticeships, work — then narrow them using your own priorities.

C

Challenge

Test your shortlist before you commit. Look at the assumptions behind each option and how the work itself may change.

I

Integrate

Bring the evidence together: what suits you personally on one side, what the pathway really offers on the other.

D

Decide

Make a considered decision you can explain, with clear reasons and room to adjust as you learn more.

E

Execute

Turn the decision into practical first steps — and the confidence that you can work through the next one yourself.

A few things you might be wondering

Let’s make the next step simpler.

Do I need to know what career I want?

No. Exploring uncertainty is part of the work. We start with where you are and help you identify what matters, what’s possible and what to do next.

Can a parent make the first enquiry?

Absolutely. Parents can enquire about First Pivot on behalf of their child. We can discuss the young person’s needs and whether one-on-one coaching or the group program would suit best.

How do I find out what’s right for me?

Start with a career conversation. Share a little about your situation in the enquiry form and Bec can discuss your goals, the right support and the next steps, including program arrangements and pricing.

You don’t need all the answers to begin.

Send a note, ask a question, or book a relaxed 30-minute discovery call — whatever feels right.
